    Australian Vietnam war slouch hat

    Good evening gentlemen
I have recently just aquired a 1968 dated slouch hat which is named to a soldier called Wellington A120495 RF , is there anybody here that would know anything about this unit or the soldier by his service number?

Hi, there are 3 Wellingtons on the Vietnam Veterans Nominal roll, none of which have that service number. My regimental number does not have an alpha prefix and I was issued with it in 1969. Are there any other markings in the hat?

The hat came from a good source and I paid nothing for it , I didn't know there was a marking under the leather band until yesterday which I found interesting.Oh I made a mistake with the date it is actually 1967.

Hi, RF would be the initials of his first and middle name and nothing to do with South Vietnamese Regional Forces... The A prefix is for the Airforce. There was nobody by that name or number who served in Vietnam so he could have served any time from the 1960's - 80's and as far as I know there is no way of getting that info.... Hope this helps

Also what colour is the pugaree?

+1 for this good answer. The only other thing is the number starting with a (1) indicates that Wellington RF enlisted in Queensland.

Here is a link about Service numbers, and all you ever needed to know:give-up:
