    14° Canadian Tank Regiment

Founded in Italy, what do you think?

    Thanks

It's a British Mk4 which were produced throughout 1945 & probably never got to the front line before the war ended.
The liner is a made up one, being a Mk1 & dated 1937-39, it has had an lift the dot fitted which I've never seen done before.

I guess, it's cool looking but evidently it's not original which is definitely not cool....

Well not post war as the 14th CRT was disbanded right away in 45 but it did carry on as the (King's Own Calgary Regt) . It was very late in coming to N. Eu though so a Mk4 might be correct if found there. But I doubt the Italy connection as they left in February 1945.
It has been mucked with as tinlid said

Paintwork does look old, but having heard from other collectors I don't think the Canadians were issued the Mk4, I think they had the Mk2/Mk3 then onto the US M1.
But having that liner suspicions are running quite high.

Not my field - WWII - really, but I know that at the end of WWI lots of units, CDN and British added painted insignia to their helmets that they never wore while hostilities were on. Something else to keep the lads busy while they waited to ship home for parades and demobbing!

So it's at least possible the paint job is ok, but the snap fastening liner stud is a real oddball alright. Does anyone know whether the camo net - thick cord - is correct for Cdn late war?
