This pattern of badge was worn by a number of the WWI Volunteer units, just the design of the central shield, name, & perhaps the shape of the crown etc differing. Although bronzed, they were 1918worn by Other Ranks, not just officers This unit became 1st - 7th Volunteer Bns The Middlesex Regiment in July 1918, when they probably began to adopt the regular Middlesex regiments badge but without the battle honour.
