Apparently the British Army formed a Support Command in November 2011,

        Country
        United Kingdom

        Branch
Flag of the British Army.svg British Army

        Type
        Command

        Garrison/HQ
        Aldershot Garrison

"Support Command is a two-star command of the British Army.[1] It was formed on 1 November 2011 and absorbed the functions of the 4th Infantry Division on 1 January 2012 and of 2nd Infantry Division and 5th Infantry Division from 1 April 2012.[2] Support Command is headquartered at Aldershot Garrison in South East England.[3]..." Wikipedia.

This may be what you have. Or, it may be the RAF Support Command, which is what Transport Command became in 1967. It lasted until 1972, when it was made part of Strike Command. I think this is more likely, as the style of the badge doesn't quite look like soemthging designed in 2011!

The patch is for the US 8th Army and possibly dates from the war in Korea or post as the 8th stayed in South Korea as the US Army Honor Guard. The Honor Guard also had detachments from the British Army.

Good to get a definite ID, Marc. But I'm confused as to what you meant by this: 'The Honor Guard also had detachments from the British Army. ' Certainly most units and or armies have Honour Guards, or did you mean that the US guys were somehow linked to the British ArmY?

Colour me confused - too early, not enough caffeine in brain cells yet!

When I was stationed in Hong Kong (1969-1970) we sent a number of soldiers to represent the British Contingent of the US 'Honor Guard', their job included guarding and patrolling the area of the 'peace process buildings' at Panmunjom. At the time I was not old enough to go so my Battery Commander said although I did pass all the tests. British Uniforms were worn with the 8th Army SSI and a HONOR GUARD scroll above similar to the badge posted only in cotton, silver wire badges were a private purchase option. While performing ceremonial duties a gloss black helmet liner was worn with the stars and bars on the right and SSI as above on the left.

Ah! Very interesting, that. I wonder whether there is still a British presence on the DMZ now that HK is no longer garrisoned by UK troops.
