    Some wings

    Hi,

I have a fair idea of the answer, but thought I'd throw these out there to get some more informed opinions.

I can upload bigger pics of individual wings tomorrow if required.

Are you looking for IDs or comments on their period/authenticity?

      Hi Peter,

ID of the FC wing, period of the South Africa SAAC wing, authenticity for any/all (the NZ wing I am certain is bad), value for NONE. They won't be on the E-stand 5 seconds after a response!

      Thanks & Regards

Not my area of expertise, particularly, but they all look awfully minty to me. Are the being sold as 'unissued condition'? All of equal age/condition, judging by the backs. If I were offered them, I think I'd save my money, but that's obviously based on looking at photos, not having them in hand.

I would suggest running them past the experts [or at least experienced RAF/RCAF etc collectors] on the British Badge Forum. Go to the RAF, RFC and the RCAF forums and search 'repro wings'.

        My tuppence worth.

All of modern manufacture. FC looks like a possible fantasy piece, certainly not UK - The only "FC" brevet I am aware of is the UK's half wing brevet = "Fighter Controller.

They are modern repros, all of them. The FC is supposed to be a first style of wing issued to Ferry Command Pilots. I've seen an original of one of these in a grouping to an American in the FC, but sadly will probably never own one myself!

Thanks guys. The responses just confirm my thoughts. The stiff backing on these is nothing like the genuine WW2 examples in my little collection.

Hopefully they can at least serve as a decent repro reference.

I'd still like to learn the period of the South African SAAC/SAVK wing (I know the one above is a repro) - I'm guessing it's based on a genuine 40s/50s vintage wing? (ie post-WW2)?

Peter, thanks for the link to the RAF website. As I'm not a member there, searches and pics are restricted so I didn't get any info either way there.

              Regards
              Mike

PS: For the record, they were listed as repros well BEFORE the informed opinions in this thread, not 5 seconds after!

Mike, the SAAC/ZAVK is from the First World War, representative of the South African Aviation Corps. A wing so rare that the only original I know of is in the South African War Museum, and they don't permit images of the badge to be reproduced so that fakers can't possibly flood the market. Therefore this particular wing you have pictured is "close" to the original design.

Thanks Mike. That probably explains why I couldn't find any info on it!
