The "ack ack" lines are still a landmark in Pet which you'd run past on about the first 1 km into/ or before the end of a run, rucksack run, webbing run. About 10 years back at least it was still an open area with some old WW1 huts on the edge.

As a side note before dad was transferred and posted to Winnipeg we lived at 8 Reichswald Court in the PMQ's. We left Picton on December 30th 1960 and arrived in Winnipeg 4 days later January 3rd 1961 by train. Because of his chefs course he took he was transferred from the Artillery to the Service Corps as a chef for the officer's mess
