    Hi All,

I would very much appreciate you taking the time to view the attached image and confirming:

    That the markings are correct.

That with this serial number the weapon was manutactured pre Normandy period.

    Kind Regards

a treatise on the Mk 5 Sten indicates that this mark is attributable to weapons manufactured prior to November 1944. Arabic style numerals followed. The stylised VS serial number prefix is associated with guns assembled at ROF Theale.

          Hi Zipper,

You are right, there is a RTL logo. Image attached. What does that stand for please?

Is there any way of finding out the date of manufacture from the serial number.

          Kind Regards

          Allan

                Hi Zipper,

Thank you very much for the further information. I especially like the term "humdinger there".

I was informed by a friend at the Memorial Pegasus Museum that Mk Vs with a serial number less than 15000 would have been manufactured prior to D-Day. Do you agree with that statement?

                Kind Regards

                Allan
