    Hi guys,

    Can anyone help i.d. this short type Machete.

    Hi Les,
    it is called a "bill hook" and would do the same job as a machete.

      Thanks for the info Gary, I've never seen a short bladed Machete. Any idea who used these and where.

        Not exactly a machete , this billhook has not change in design and is used today by anyone who handles wood, perfect cutting tool, I've never seen pics of this being carried by a front line troopers, i pressume used widely at the rear for clearing certain areas.

              Used quite extensively in hedging and coppicing, I have used one myself quite often on the farm years ago

              Can buy them at any good hardware shop, obviously not a ww2 issue one
