    A few British Airborne badges...

    Hello everyone,

Need some opinions/information on these please.

First up is a soild silver Indian Parachute Regiment cap badge. A locally made job but done quite well although it is still rather crude. I'd be interested to know what you make of it.

Here is the "PARACHUTE" title in the earliest form. It came from a 1st Para. Batt. veteran's son. But, do you think it has had the numeral "1" removed from it? It looks like something was there but I'd really appreciate any opinions!

Detail. Looks like something has been cut off?

Lastly, a pair of "PARACHUTE" shoulder titles. Does anyone know for sure when these were worn and stopped being worn? Any information on these would be appreciated!

              Hi Jack,

Could we possibly see the backs please. The parachute title looks lovely from the front .

              Yours, Guy.

Hi Jack, all the badges look fine to me.

The cast Indian Parachute Regiment cap badge I have not seen before in that exact style, so that might be a good sign?

The shoulder titles were worn until 1945 by some units, such as the XXI. The photo I posted of Don Turner the other day was from 14/8/1945. I would tend to think that wear by battalion men would be much rarer by that date and only on best BD of course I am not convinced that a tab has been cut off. It is very hard to tell as the edge of the title is a little "rough" and the lack of stitching is evident in other places as well as were the numerial might have been?
Are the titles more maroon in colour is real life as they do look rather red in the pics? As guess this is most likely a scanner issue.

                    Nice stuff and well done!

                    Cheers, Ade.

Michael, catch me if ya can
No, seriously, the Indian Parachute Regiment was bought a long long time ago, the pair and the single PARACHUTE shoulder titles were bought privately from a man cleaning out his father in law's stuff after he died. I am currently trying to get hold of his medals including a GSM Palestine 1945-48. So I'm crossing my fingers. His name was John D. Johnson or "Johnnie" Johnson as he was known to his mates. I need to find out if he was involved at Arnhem - any help is appreciated!

                            Cheers!
