    pre-war RAF Air Gunners badge

Not really uncommon I believe but I was pleased to get this, it was with an IGS to an RAF airman who served early 1930's to 1946. Sadly I havent as yet been able to verify that he flew as an Air Gunner because a lot of these guys were mechanics and armourers who flew as "temporary, acting, local, unpaid, un-trained Air Gunners". One day when the records are available, who knows ??

      Hi Michael

there are 2 lugs on the back, top and bottom centrally, looks as if it was to have a split pin (or similar) to secure it, but thats just a guess, I'm a long way from being knowledgeable on this sort of thing.
