    Royal Navy Captain's cap

I picked up this WWII era Royal Navy senior officers' cap, for ranks of commander & captain.
It is named on the sweatband to Captain (s) H.C. Foote. The S, of course, is for surgeon/ doctor.
You can very faintly make out the maker as Gieves. The cap is made of a very high quality wool, very soft to the touch.

Thanks for the compliments, and let me belatedly thank Karl S for the fine photos.

A real beauty. I need one for this rank to go with a commanders uniform I have.

                Jerry,
I found this cap on Ebay, for a VERY good price. I saw a very similiar cap at the SOS in February, and the seller wanted $ 400 for it. My price wasn't remotely close to that.

                  HI Bob,

sounds like you did really well with this one. I was keeping an eye out on ebay for a while but I have not looked recently as I have other things I am looking for.

I expect to find one sooner or later and hopefully for a sensible price. I have his original capbadge still on its band so a stripped cap would suit me.

                  Regards,

                  Jerry

                    Jerry,
For once ( !!! ), I got lucky, as the other caps I've seen on Ebay, even for junior officers, were much higher than I paid for this one.
Still doesn't make me anywhere near even for all the caps that I've not won on Ebay, though,
