KiA 1944 a British/US medal group

The medals of Denis George Potts, he was a British born seaman who served with the Merchant Navy till 1942 when he joined the US Merchant Marine, he survived a torpedo attack and sinking in 1943 and then died aboard the tanker "Jacksonville" when it was torpedoed by U482 and exploded (only 2 survived).

He is on the US Coast Guard list of casualties but is not commemorated by the CWGC although his documents survive in the PRO.

the group is accompanied by lots of original paperwork including a letter to the effect that his motorcycle (which was in for repair in the US) when he was killed was sold because he didnt pay for the repairs (he was dead)
