George V bullion armband what for?

Does anyone know what this armband was used for. It is made of fine black wool with gold bullion edging and a gold bullion thread cypher.
    Thanks,
    Garth

Wow!! you have got some good stuff on the forum. I wonder if this was for the funeral of George V? Perhaps worn by the troops lining the route or accompanying the cortege

HI Garth , hope ya well , the funeral armband makes sence I had one of these and this is what I was told (hence the black colour ) how ever ......... I had several similar examples but my own opinion was they were worn by ushers / security staff at the Royal weddings ...do you have ushers over there in the colonies ??? another opinion from a good friend was they were worn by staff who had to enter a royal household but did not work directly there , royal post delivery etc

Either way I think your close and its a loverly item
