Canadian/ Quebec Police badge

Hi,

Anyone as ever see this one before ? Any idea of the value ? I do not collect police stuff, just find this one in a lot with military cap badge. Its maker mark Scully Montreal on the back under the pin.

I can tell you it dates from before 1968, when the Quebec Provincial Police became the Surete de Quebec and, judging by the style, probably a good bit earlier. The QPP was founded in 1870. I would guess, and its just a guess, that a hallmarked detective's badge, possibly from the 1950s or before, would be quite a pricy piece to a police collector!
