just wondered about the date of this helmet, I thought with the printed size stamp in the liner this would be postwar? I just looked again and now see a 45 date,

I've seen a few post war refurbed helmets & they have had the size stamped on the cruciform pad. Could the date be 1949?

thats what I was thinking re-furb, I believe the later chinstraps are olive also

Looks like a common or garden home front lid with a late/post war chinstrap just because it was found in Italy does not mean it was in battle in Italy . Rob
