Today i managed to pick up 3 lids from a house clearence freind of mine, they were found in the attic of a house in the South Wales valley are. I myself have no doubt that they were stored together as they all show the same storage wear, spiders web etc, im also quite happy with the two ARP lids even thou they are a bit diffrent from what we see most of the time. The white one has that miners hard hat look and the steel lid with the metal letter to the front is IMO original WW2 , the letter has been on the lid for a long time as seen from the rust are behind the letter. Im posting here for your comments and all are welcome. Pete.

No the white one is not a civilian protective helmet (Zuckerman) Probably made by Helmets Ltd who produced helmets for the military & civilian use. Although frowned upon, non metal helmets were used by people in the early days of the ARP.
The green smooth painted one with the metal W to the front were until 1939 meant for use by the ARP & others on the home front.

[QUOTE=no 1 pts school;6036173]hi all the one with the letter W on the front i saw at the pump house antiques in cardiff last weekend .. or it must have a double twin ...
Thats right Paul, my mate Bob keeps a lot of nice gear for me under the counter till i visit him, when he pointed out the helmet you mention was from the same attic then of course it had to be added to to others
