ON the same theme.......do any of you chaps own a plaque with more than five names on it? Is it possible to have more than five names......maybe six?

I have got one to Juluis Dermot Cecil Barry Furley.

Well I bought the set from there a couple of years ago and have had zero problems like that Leigh. The LDS are big on Genealogy as a part of their beliefs and are a well respected resource in genealogical circles. The set consists of like 15-20 CD's in a nice ring binder for a dirt cheap price. I think they are more concerned with people profiteering from their efforts than anything else.

        Cheers,
        David.
At Rathau on the Aller, the CO of 5th Royal Tanks advanced on foot to take a cautious look into the town before his tanks moved in. He encountered one of his own officers, a huge Welshman named John Gwilliam who later captained his country's rugby team, 'carrying a small German soldier by the scruff of his neck, not unlike a cat with a mouse.' The Colonel said: 'Why not shoot him?' Gwilliam replied in his mighty Welsh voice: 'Oh no, sir. Much too small.'

Oh, the 1881 census for $25.50 is the whole thing by the way. The description is possibly misleading. You don't have to buy the other UK 1881 disks seperately.

          Cheers,
          David.

Okay, thanks, sounds like the "postmen" won't turn up in pairs & wearing smart suits then.

I'll definitely order some of the discs - they do sound very useful.

You wont, he's listed on the CWWG site as J D Furley R.A.F. Too many names for even the war graves scribe to record.

Couldnt tell you about the CD....never owned a copy of soldiers died.

                Steve.

Ah, RAF then - I'd spun him through Soldiers Died & Officers Died just as "Furley", there're only a few Furleys on each, the only J Furley was a Joseph, of the 23rd Londons, died 1918.

So you got the medals to go withit then, or just the big penny?

Just the death plaque mate. If you take a look at the CWWG site you`ll see he was with the 5th Fighing School and buried in Egypt.

Just ordered a few of those LDS CDs - 1851 Census, 1881 Census, a couple of others, only cost about $62. Unfortunately the postage was about $39, but if the 1881 Census set alone consists of 25 discs that's not too surprising I suppose. Look forward to getting stuck into them.

Glad to be of service Leigh.

Let me know what you think when they arrive.

                        Cheers,

Just a heads up chaps - Two days after I carried out the transaction to buy the census CD's on the LDS site, somebody else was using my credit card details to make various purchases (my only other recent transaction was a paypal one with a US based militaria dealer).
May be unconnected to the LDS transaction, but some bugger got the details somehow. At least it's been sorted within a couple of days.
