I was wondering if anybody could identify the type of British mine this trip wire detonator and spigot would have been attached to. ?
I found the spigot 25 years ago in one of my favourite metal detecting haunts, and !! the detonator some 25 years later around 30 feet from where the spigot was first found. (There was some of the fine wire trip cord attached, but this disintergrated).
The area where these items were found was used by the Polish Parachute Brigade for practice with booby-trap mechanisms, as well as proceedures for destroying railway lines.
The detonator is maked MD 1A 14 , and the thread on the spigot looks to be around 9/16ths.
I should also point out that the detonator has been activated and is totally harmless.
Regards
Gary J.
