(kia) Elizabeth Cross - bought back by family

    - Simon Annis, 22 was killed in Helmand serving with 2nd Battalion, Royal Regiment of Fusiliers.

there is an interesting story in the news about a elizabeth cross sold by his widow and then was bought back by the young soldiers parents.

it seems the elizabeth cross was put up for sale on gumtree for £500. bought by a collector* & then was placed for sale (on commission?) on a dealers site. "the london medal company" priced at £2457. the family relised it was up for sale and had to buy it back at the dealers price.

unfortunately as usual, the full story is not in the media & a lot of people seem to be blaming collectors & dealers. while there is a small group of collectors who try and make mega profit directly from family members. it was the good collectors over at the british medal forum were the ones who went out of their way and contacted the family & dealer in question to make sure the cross was given back to the right people. also brigadier ian lyles at Tower of London ( the royal regiment of fusiliers ) will be repaying the family.

(while it seems the family will be repaid, it would of been nice it the original buyer & dealer sold the medal back at the original price with no profit being made)
