    Regimental markings?

    Hi

    Do anyone of you know where this Webley MK2 have been in service by the stamps on the gun. Regards Technika.nu

    I guess Boer War. Date is October 1899 and the unit is Royal Artillery.

      Is it the date when the gun first was issued?

      got any idea what A and 39 means?

        Hello Håkan,

        I guess that is the date when the man who owned the gun first owned it - I guess it is a private purchase piece?

        The other markings you refer to, the A and 39, would be his battery or unit he belonged to eg. A Battery, 39th Company or something similar.
