    Are these RAF men?

    Hi all!

I have recently acquired this photo, showing some men of the Greek Royal Air Force, taken in Ioannina and dated January 25, 1941. I think that two of the men belong to the RAF, though. The man sitting on the right and the one standing second from the left. Could you confirm this or am I wrong?

    Best regards,
    Giorgos

They appear to be, the tunics look like RAF and some have the Albatross on the shoulder. Are they PoWs? They are a scruffy bunch even by RAF standards! A couple appear to be - of mediterranean appearance - and have what looks a bit like a RN capbadge, Allies I guess?

        Thanks for the reply, John!

The rest of the men belong to the Greek Royal Air Force. They also have that scruffy appearence, if you look closely, the man standing on the far left has two dice over his left breast pocket!

If the two guys are British, they are not POWs, but men operating with one of the Squadrons based in Greece during January-May 1941, under the command of Air Marshal Sir John D'Albiac. Given the fact that the photo was taken in Ioannina, they must have belonged to No. 80 (F) Squadron (Gladiators).

        Thanks again for your reply!

        Best regards,
        Giorgos
