    AUstralian Knuckle knife

    Hello forum,

I'm looking for the current value of an australian knuckle knife, 100% original, good (but used condition) and with a good condition original leather scabbard.
It has got the "zamack" handle...not the brass version.

Unfortunally I haven't got any pictures of the actual knife on sale, but it's exactly the same as the one's on these pictures :

If you got idea's about the value, or any reference of sales in the past, please inform me.
    Regards,
    Frederik

Is it D/\D stamped on the handle? I know the British made these as well.
As for price I can't really give an number as I have not seen one for sale in a long time... At a guess I would say around $2000 give or take.

Are you looking to buy or sell one?

And no sorry mate like I said I have not seen one for sale for a long time, that was just what I think would be a conservative estimate and the price could actually go a lot higher if at auction depending how badly someone wanted it. The Australian WW2 commando daggers sell for $1500 - $2000 all day long condition depending and they are a lot more common than these.

I saw one sell collector to collector about three years ago for 3500 U.S.

The knife was bought originally about 20 years ago from a dutch veteran's family. All known to me is that the late veteran was posted briefly in Australia (where he got the knife) and then went off to fight in the formal dutch colonies.
I will see if I can get some pictures tomorrow and post them to show it's condition.
I know they are very rare and expencive, but I like to find out it's true value for the current owner who's a personal friend and in need of funds due to the current economic crisis.

The knife is D/|\D marked (in raised letters) and has got the 2 inspection stamps on de handle " C /|\ " and " /|\ 784(?)".
The blade is stamped "/|\ 146".

The very simple designed blade is still extreemly sharp...yes, I cut myselve inspecting it!

            Will post pictures tomorrow.

Finally managed to get some photo's.

As you can see the knife is in an original condition, not cleaned or polished.
The scabbart is in very good condition.

If anybody got any links to past auctions or sales please let me know.
