Yep! I knew it was a khukri. I didn't think it was military, as it has no militarymarkings on it. However, most tourist items are embellished with designs, or marked "made in India". This has nothing on it at all. I was curious if it was maybe non military, but civilian?

In Nepal the khukri is the standard working and ceremonial knife like the kris in Malaysia and so on. They were commonly carried by civilians both as an important symbol of national dress and as a working tool. Yours looks to be well made and well used. I would say that it is a typical civilian working model made and used locally.
