Commando dagger Patt 3 - advice?

    Hello;

    I need some help please.

This appears to be a 3rd Pattern dagger, however, I am not sure if this is post WW2 or a WW2 version.

    Can anyone provide advice?

    Thank you, WilloW

Post war, thin guard, makers name. I used to sell these new in the 70's for £1/10/- (£1.50)

if im correct, any Commando daggers marked "england" are post war.

Knives marked Sheffield England are post-war commercially made knives, knives marked England are wartime made but sold to the US after the war.

I'm having the impression that the handle could be wartime due to the copper wash?

I still have a "Sheffield England" dagger. I bought mine new in
                1973 for $15 US.

Different dagger marker 8 with arrow

Thank you again... I have passed on the first dagger, however, have been offered another which is much better - stamped ENGLAND on the thick cross-guard with a broad arrow and number 8 stamped on the handle.

I am lead to believe that the arrow and number 8 indicates it is military issue.

Attached is an image. Unfortunately the vender has provided me only two images.

What are your opinions on this dagger ?

                  Thank you again, WilloW

I meant to mention that the dagger has a number 4 batch number (vender just told me)

Looks like a good one to me - what do others think?

I might make this a separate post for added visability

                    Cheers, WilloW
