The 7th Infantry was a South African Unit. The naming style is correct compared to others of that unit, but the type set is heavy handed and a little uneven. I haven't seen enough African unit award stars to give a better opinion.

I reckon it is original,
i did a quick search of South African 1914-15 Stars,and the engraving on all are similar to yours.
Just for interest here is one i found,also from the South African 7th Infantry Kimberly Regiment
