Maroon berets

CANADIAN made maroon berets

Dorothea Knitting Mills Fleur de lis Basque Beret C/|\ marked 1945

Dorothea Knitting Mills Fleur de lis Basque Beret Canadian post-war issue marked 1956

Both of the above were worn by the late Colonel Don H. Rochester, the first Regimental Commander of the Canadian Airborne Regiment 1968-1969. Both berets have the first pattern Canadian Aribrone Regiment badge. I still have the 1945 one (as my focus is WWII) and I sold the 1956 one to a friend of Col. Rochester's (along with the 13 medals OBE through CD etc.) to Lieutenant Colonel Wayne Dehnke, formerly of the Canadian Airborne Regiment.

Hello Luc,

Do you own an original Grand Mere Knitting para beret?... The only reason I ask is that I have handled several but all unfortunately have been ‘post-war put together’ berets being passed off as legit.

If you do own one, I would love to see it!

Coogan, no I don't own a Grand'mere beret. I'll upload some pictures to discuss but I must renew my membership first.

I have about 20-30 Maroon ones left, but I think they're all undated so more modern ones. I remember Kangol and Comptons. Let's see in the next day's.
BTW: in total I have about 600 different left, including Tammie's and Caubeens, RTR Pipers and other interesting Stuff.

What kind of price does a dated 1943 go for ? please

There are many variables that can affect price such as maker, condition, size, etc… but you can expect to pay approximately $1400 on the bottom end and up for a 1943 para dated beret.
