    WW2 era British autographs

Are there any autograph collectors out there who can comment on the value/scarcity of the signatues of Montgomery, Churchill & Chamberlain? I just bought a photo of Eisenhower and Monty signed by both; Montgomery has signed "Montgomery of Alamein/ Field Marshall." I know a late 30s letter by Chamberlain to a German newspaper praising the Hitler Jugend sold for $18,000 in an auction recently, so this type of material is heating up.

Is it post war were they signed at the same time , loads of variables I bet they signed loads , however still nice if real but never going to as valuable as a letter where Chamberlin praises Hitler , thats like comparing an Ali autograph in the 90's and one signed during the rumble in the jungle . So - what is the UK price of a Montgomery signed photo? The Chamberlain example was probably a record price because of the content. I'm not trying to compare the 2. I'd like to have a good content wartime Monty letter. But if the UK stuff is as common as dirt maybe I made a mistake.

i cant comment on price of your item but i have heard that Churchill used tones of signed "thank you" letters that he had printed. they often come up for auction and thought as original but which they are not

Montgomery was promoted to FM in Sept 1944. He was given the title Viscount of Alamein in 1946. I would presume a pic signed Montgomery of Alamein to be post war.

Difficult to give an estimated price without seeing. I have paid £75 for a signed Monty post war note to his gardener. A post war signed pic might bring £100-125 imho. Depends on buyer/seller really.

Maybe I've watched the movie "Patton" too many times and it's gone to my head. It doesn't matter too much that it's post war signed. It's that Montgomery and Eisenhower have signed the same photo. A Montgomery or Eisenhower in WW2 uniform photo each sell for several hundred dollars. A photo of them both signed together is rare and should be worth much more, they don't come up for sale very often. The point is the price is cheap for its historical significance. As far as US prices go, a signed Chamberlain photo would sell for about $400. a Churchill would sell for $1000 or more.
