    Named Large pack

I'd like to trace the user of this WWII Large pack wich is in my collection.
    It has the folowing inscription:
    Richadson K
    .......(unreadable)
    16plt

The Large pack is used or misabused heavily and I can't find any marks or stamps.
Can someone help me further with this?

    Many thanks in advance!

    Large pack

I do not think you will be able to identify the soldier further.

Canadian, and likely British packs had the acceptance and maker's marks inside the top flap. /|\ for British and /|\ with a "C" around iut for Canadian.

I find with dirty P37 web that marking show up better if you "beat" it - like the old rug beaters. OK, be gentle and "pat" it where suspected marking are. Sometimes the dust flies off enough to read the old black ink stampings.

Without first name and/or initials and a regimental number it is vitrually impossible to trace. e.g. if you punch in that name on www.cwgc.org (Commonwealth War Graves Commission) you will get LOTS of hits - and that is only those who were killed. They are listed by unit but not by sub-unit (i.e. platoon).

Your pack has had the stuyb straps cut of at the top.

      Thanks for the reply.
I was already aware about the british an commonwealth arrows. Also I tried to search Richadson K on www.cwgc.org without any result.

I'm going to try you're tip about the old rug beaters. Perhaps i'm going to be able to read the inscription that is between Richadson K and 16 plt.

It was very common for Canadian troops to be issued British made webbing during the war so if you find something British made it could still have been used by a Canadian.
