    Type D O2 mask

    Hi there!

    A question for you RAF guys!!!

    I have to see a RAF type D mask that a friend have propose to me... wich is the things I have to check to know if is good or bad? I know that there's lots of fake of this stuff, and I have never see an original ...

    Any halp is deep apreciate!!!!

    Get some detailed photos mate and throw them up on the forum, that's your best bet

      A good point to look out for is the ring on the front of the masks which takes the microphone. In my experience these are made from brass on originals whilst the excellent reproductions now available, are made of steel.

      Take a magnet with you and see if it sticks to the rim. If it does, it may be a copy.

      These images are of a copy.

        But I think that the problem it's not also the mic holder... but also the body!

        The cloth of the body of the mask (I'm told about) was made, seems to me the same 'serge' used on these repro... Is corret that on the original, the body have to do un OD wool?

          Yes, I believe you are correct. The material on the copy I have shown is a very good likeness, a wool Barathea and not the Serge you mention.
