Nice fresh, out of the woodwork find......and my very first British find.
This was sent home by Cpl. Donovan, 5th Army. He joined the army at 18, landed in Africa, fought through Italy and ended up in either France or Belgium. After the war he took hi-speed photos of nuclear detonations.
Anyway, enjoy the helmet--and since I don't really know anything about British helmets, I would appreciate any education in this subject.
I gather this is a MkI BMB produced para helmet. I did not notice any markings on the shell or straps. The paint and texture on this is really wonderful and is almost minty. Reminds me of the corking on US helmets, which I do collect.
