1943 Dated Slouch Hat - Badge question.

A 1943 dated Slouch Hat in good condition for its age. I believe that the Badge on the side may be New Zealand, but would like to know if this is correct and what Unit or Regiment? Many thanks, Clive.

Can't help on the badge ID, but the hat is an Australian made example.

And as such, a bit of a scarcity. In my 20+ years of collecting RAF & commonwealth aviation items, I don't recall ever seeing what is undoubtedly an authentic RNZAF slouch hat - a few RAAF, yes and a reasonable number of RAF but never an RNZAF.

Pro Rata, the RNZAF was a fairly small unit and finding items for them has always been a bit of a challenge, especially outside of NZ.
