    Enfield markings help

    I have a 1918 Enfield SmLE lll and on the right side on the part the stripper clip feeds into it's stamped with what looks like C.A.I. ST AI B VT. Is this an import stamp? I haven't taken it apart yet but so far the numbers on the bolt, receiver, rear sight and front where bayonet fits on all match thanks Mike

      Ah OK thank you very much. Is it hard to find one without import marks ? Mike

        import marks

        I would imagine it would be pretty hard. Most foreign made military weapons were either imported, or captured by a vet. Since Britain was our allies in WWI and WWII, it would have to have come home with a veteran as a souvenir.

            Century arms is a modern importer,probably in the last 10 years or so.
