Victorian Naval Long Service Good Conduct Medal for review

This came out of a box of my Grandpa's, my dad has a vague recollection of him buying it at a postcard show and asking my dad about it. Going back about 25 years.

Looks to be a "wide bar" example with the bar about 3/32-1/8" wider than the medal on each side. Medal swivels 360 no problem. Obviously a repro ribbon.

Named with rank, HMS, and years service, I'm holding back these details for now, until we can make sure it is not family related and is just something picked up out of interest.

I will add that the ship was a sloop involved in the operations along the African coasts intercepting slave traders, a remarkably busy record, with some interesting trials and a few other tidbits.

Just noticed what looks like writing (signature?) under Queen Victoria image. I will look again at the medal...

The signature is probably the person who designed the medal

It is indeed a 'wide' type used between 1847-75. A nice find and very collectable.
