    R.a.f id discs help please

HI bought a box of bits today all W.W.2 RAF in side were two sets of fibre ID discs same name N.JACKSON but two completely different serial numbers ( one set marked up OFFR ... officer ? ),

At first i thought two members of the same familly , my question is : if N. Jackson had joined the RAF as a say an Airman if .......... he was given a promotion to officer did they get another serial number ?? or is it two seperate blokes ???

    any help will be great

Not any longer. The same service number is retained throughout ones career nowadays.

G'dad's kitbag - see my PM. Your chap was indeed an OR and was commissioned in Jan 1945 into "General Duties" - normally this means as aircrew and judging by his senior NCO rank on commissioning, I would suggest he was aircrew prior to commissioning too, although it will be tough to prove which role he had e.g. Pilot, nav etc.
