New(?) Fittings on British Anodized Cap Badges.

I'm used to the idea of brit anodized badges having loop fittings or wide flat lug fittings, but I bought a Black Watch Balmoral or whatever the things are called a couple of weeks ago, it had the mess tin fitted to it by north / south prongs of the sort found on officers SD cap badges & on police cromed helmet plates for the past 15 yrs or so. Never seen that on an anodized, Apart from that, the badge concerned has a smooth rather than dimples surface to the motto circlet. Are these prongs the norm now?

I've never seen a BW Glengarry badge with prongs, so this might be a recent development. The only other badges I recall these prongs on are RAChD.
