Hello all , just purchased my 1st Irvin ww2 flying jacket and wondered if anybody has any information regarding the manufacturer , the label is worn but you can still make out size 8 and sizes plus A M crown in top corner and date 194? I dont know alot about the manufactuers apart from they were made by numerous companies under license just like para smocks etc

Hi Robb yes it's a beauty , it is as I have been told by the sellar an early war 40-42 because of the maker and pattern of how it's made , I have no worries at all about it been genuine as I trust the seller 100 per cent and in collecting many items do turn up in fantastic condition as I have had a few, the original owner of the jacket which I have had mixed reports and waiting for more news was a Duncan Stewart who was with the Canadian air force in ww2

Nice Jacket. I think the plain leather back dates to the 1940/41 period, and the four panel back like yours was made around 1942/43 but i might be wrong on that,

            Looks nice.
Size 8? what is it across the armpits??

I had a size 3 that fitted a 5'6" male, with 4 piece back and 3 piece fronts.
As mentioned earlier, the less panels the earlier the make.

            GG.

              hello GG

the jacket measures 24inch across from seam to seam and 27 inch from base of neck to bottom , its the largest size of the Irvins and apparantly like rocking horse S**T in this size

any ideas of the maker , I have been told it could be DGL but I have seen a label of theres and its slightly differant
come on you guys help please
