    RCAF WW2 Items

Here is interesting group of RCAF items picked up recently. I did a quick search on K.L.B Hodson who's signature appears on the cover and inside of the Down Ampney booklet. He was a well known and decorated pilot for the RCAF. All of these items appear to have belonged to a Wendell Rowan. The RCAF St. Thomas booklet is very nicely done with high quality photos. Enjoy.

    Great mate! Nice menu's.

The Regimental/Squadron (etc.) Christmas dinner is one of the things which is a very old and treasured "tradition" in at least the Commonwealth forces and i suspect it is much the same in all Forces Worldwide in some form. By Commonwealth tradition every man is "entitled" to a Christmas dinner wherever he is serving. One fine example of that is the Canadian Regiments Christmas dinner during the battle of Ortona. In my REgiment we had the same kind of menu and the youngest Rank would exchange Tunics with the C.O, and then he issued one "order" for the day, usually "Tomorrow is off" the next day usually being a Friday.

    Regards,

    Pete

Thanks Pete, interesting tradition. Was unaware of its history. Everyman guaranteed a Christmas Dinner that is great.
