"Buy the item, not the story." is always a safe way to go. Never heard of the seller but IMHO the question is "Is it worth the price on the condition alone, without the story?" If yes, go for it! It looks like an excellent example of these maps.

I have one of those that is not quite as nice and it came with a grouping of items belonging to a Canadian vet. Apparently it was carried into France which is why it has some wear/soiling. They are nice items and prices vary greatly when they turn up but IMO that one on ebay was on the high side. Depends on how much you want one though.
