Small camouflage tent used by SOE

Does anyone know anything about a British small camouflage tent handed out to SOE agents (and probably others)? It has green/dark green camouflage on one side but can also be reversed and the camouflage on the other side is white. I will try to get some photos of it later this weekend.

Never saw one, maybe because we didn't had much of them in Berlin.

Hehe, probably so uscob, but then again you have some real nice Werwolf items found in Berlin and nearby. here are 2 photos I have for now, its the tent packed in its bag (same camouflage as the tent and also reversible).

Hello Nico. Yes I will take some more photos of the tent, also erected when I have the time, it has been raining here the last days also and I did not want to get the tent wet:

What makes you berlieve this is connected to SOE ? Although a neat item it is not a tent I would attribute to SOE. Regards, Clive.

I think these were general issue to mountain troops - I think "Mountain and Flood" has pics with them white side out - the living history group I'm with has a few (I'm half owner of 1) - ours have 2 different entrance types - a large slash like other bell tents I've seen or tunnel with drawstring. They are nice big tents. I think the bags are hard to get - I have a rough one but think the rest of our groups are just in big navy bags.

2 poor pictures from Mountain and Flood - the 52nd Div history - I dont fancy putting my copy on the scanner as I think I may knacker the spine. I think these are the reversible bell tents.

WOW, great information! Thank you very much Gentlemen, and a special thanks to you AB64 for the excellent photos.

Seebee: The reason for me connecting it with the SOE is that a friend of mine have one of these tent that he got straight from a norwegian SOE agent, completely with story etc. The only difference is that on his tent all labels etc are removed. So this type of tent definitively were used by norwegian SOE agents, but the one I show here dont have any story, and since the english labels still are attached probably never saw any SOE service:-) What would a reasonable price be on the tent shown in the photos (complete and in good condition)?

Although this Tent may have come from a Norwegian in SOE, could it be that he was issued it post-WW2? There were "stay-behind" units operating then. The camouflage pattern is not one I would recognise as being SOE either. I do not know what the value of it would be, certainly an uncommon item. Regards, Clive.

I have personaly spoken to the SOE agent that gave the similar tent to my friend many times , and listen to many of his stories. And I have heard myself under what circumstances he was issued the tent for an operation in 1944. So please excuse me Seebee, but I prefer to believe him over you....

No problem at all, first hand accounts from veterans are a valuable source of prime information. In many years of collecting and studying both SOE and OSS I have never come across any reference of an SOE manufactured and issued tent. It is quite possible that for a specific mission a tent was sourced. Already mentioned was a tent used by Mountain troops and this could well be what it is, but fairly sure it is not SOE equipment.

I agree with you Seebee; not made for SOE, but used by SOE:-) Would have appreciated a suggestion on a fair price on this tent, best thing would maybe be to put it on the Estand.
