The Guards wear this style of insignia on the Home Service [red] tunic and on the Blues to denote CSM or Drill Sergeant/W.O.2. The design varies , depending on which of the Guards regiments it is. The crossed swords don't indicate PTI .

Thank's for the update. The thing with the Swords I know an also the different designs. I have the complete Sete of Mess Dress Mini's and some of the Full Size Insignia. But as said before, up to date I knew them only in Combination with the Chevrons.
The version with chevrons is for a Colour Sergeant.
That I know. Many Years I had a Full Dress Tunic with 2 chevrons and a Flag.
What's that.
While thinking of this, I remember a story, how a friend got his first Bear Skin, I think from the GG. He worked as a painter for the British Forces in Berlin and one morning he had to paint some Barracks Rooms and entered the Hallway and saw some drunken Guards, playing Soccer with a BS. Suddenly, the RSM came in, grabbed the BS and asked my friend "He Peter, you allway's asked me for a BS, here you have one". Was really hard for the original Owner, as he had to buy a new one on his own expense.
Two chevrons and a flag isn't a Guards rank that I know. Was it definately a Guards tunic?
My first beaskin cap was rescued from a skip [dumpster],along with the guy's Home Service tunic and belt , where his wife had dumped them after his death - an Irish Guards Regimental Sergeant Major, no less.
