British neck Order of some sort

Hello forum..

I found this medal last Saturday... along with various US medals yard saling.

It was rather pricey... but I took a chance on it.

Since it mentions the King, I assume it's from WWII or earlier.

Comes with a ribbon and instructions on how to wear.

I placed an old US silver dollar for a size comparision.

Any idea as to value? Thanks for the help Robert

A very nice decoration at a very good price.

I understand it's the post 1936 pattern on a civil ribbon. The royal cipher would therefore apply to Geo VI.

Prior to 1936, the central motif was the traditional seated figure of Brittania.

The military issue ribbon that is in the box is the one that was most likely originally issued with the box and medal, which suggest to me a date between 1937 to 1953.

Unless I am seeing it wrong and its just the way the ribbon is folded in the photo, it appears the original owner used a smaller civillian issue ribbon without the centre white stripe for wearing on official occassions.
