WW2 Canadian Canvas Web Straps - Identification

Here are a pair of Canadian canvas web straps with brass hooks that I acquired at a garage sale. They are C-Broad Arrow-marked and bear the soldier's service number plus a couple of other stamped letters. They appear to be designed to work together, over-the-shoulder, in attaching and retaining part of a soldier's gear.

Can anyone out there please identify the name and use of these straps?

    Regards,

    John

Known as 'L straps left and right' used to carry the small pack or the large pack. On the top of the packs there are two broad short straps that can be attached to the L strap by a 'D' buckle, on the base of the small pack are 2 small buckles for the end of the thinner strap. On the large pack another 2 straps are used for the thinner strap. The brass hook is used on the brass buckle of the Ammunition pouches.
