Opinions On WW2 Recce Cap Badge

Hope to get some opinions on this WW2 Recce Cap Badge. Not mine. Looking to get it if it's good, but looks like a poor cast to me.

Looks like a stamping, not a casting to me. Wouldn't a casting have a solid back? Don't know whether that's relevant to its authenticity, but the boys on the British badge Forum will very likely know.

Not a rare badge...personally I wouldn't pay more than $5-$10

Generally, the shaft of the spear must have an equal width below and above the scroll. In this case it seems to be more narrow below.
