    WW2 British Vehicle Markings

I uncovered this marking on the passenger side rear of a 1944 WC-51 Dodge. The truck has been stored for the last 20 + years or so. It was depot overhauled in 1952 so I don't know if the markings are WW2 or Korean War era. On the left side is a similar marking, square shaped, maroon background witht he number "57" in the center. I'm guessing British but maybe the markings are from Belgium? There are more markings on the passenger cowl I haven't uncovered yet. Anybody have an idea of what country or unit the markings are for?

In the first picture if you can't see it well it's a very detailed Lion head in the center with a maroon background, the maroon looks like the backgound color on the British Airborne pegasus insignia.

The image in the first post looks like the Belgian Lions Head.

This may or may not help.

        Looks Belgian to me too.

        Cheers, Ade.
