If my eyes aren't deceiving me, he's wearing the ribbons of the DFC/DFM, or AFC/AFM, in the wrong order. I think I can discern narrow oblique stripes on the leading ribbon??

Could be the cap badge for the Devonshire Regiment in the beret, and an Artificers badge on the right sleeve. Is this a real WWII "WALT".
