Now that i can post pics,id like to show my 1942 Australian Police MkII.
British Police lids are quite common but Aussie ones are a bit rarer.

Nice lid . I aree that the police is a hard one to find out of the civil defence hemets.

Nice Helmet.

I really like the Dunlop makers stamp.

I would suggest it was more likely painted white to stand out and to be a point of different to other emergency branches such as the ARP Warden helmets that were most commonly painted black with white ‘W’ stencilled on front.
