Britisch Tool 1942 ?

Hello,

today i was in the basement. I must looking for a rule.

So i found this. It was market with 1942 an (i think so) a british marking.

Hope you can help me what it was.

It is a Broad-Arrow. Meaning this is government property.

Useful items like tools usually had it. Made them harder to use/sell once they where pilfered.

How it got into your basement is a story I would love to hear, but I think it is lost to time.

I dont know how it was in our basement. We buy this House a couple of years ago. And the basement was full of old stuff like tools and others.

So its not from the British army?

It is. Just show the whole Tool, makes it easier. The Arrow is the Mark for Government Property, means also Army, Navy Air Force.

Yes it is a scale or ruler probably used by the British Army engineers during the occupation. They would still be using equipment issued during the war.

Nice Carpenters Angle. If you ever want to sell it, let me know. As a Carpenter I collect these things.
I have some nice Tools from my Dad who also learned Carpenter before he studied Architecture with nice "Care USA" Stamps. He got a complete Set in 1953 as the best of his Course.

That square (what we call them in the UK) originated in Birmingham Uk. Made by the company J. Rabone & sons, Hockley Abbey Works, Whitmore street, Hockley, Birmingham. A fine tool and very collectable
