Chitral, another pest hole generating medals

Thought the group would like to see the medals related to the Siege of Chitral, 1895. Chitral is/was a minor princedom in northern India along the Afganistan border. A rather unpleasant place by most accounts. The Siege, defence and relief, is well covered in the 1975 book MUCH SOUNDING OF BUGLES, the Siege of Chitral 1895 by John Harris.

1st medal: India General Service 1895 with bar Defence of Chitral

2nd medal: Jummoo and Kashmir medal given by the Maharajah of Jammu and Kashmir to the troops participating in the defence.

3rd medal: IGS 1895 with Relief of Chitral bar

4th medal IGS 1895 in bronze with Relief of Chitral bar

    Thanks for looking,
    Garth

        Steve,
All are correctly named except the Jummom/Kashmir which is an unmamed version . I never have been able to locate a roll for the "defence" clasp to verify the recipient but the naming is done correctly for the period and the clasp attachments haven't been monkeyed with.
        Best regards,
        Garth

              Rick,
The Jummo/kashmir is supposed to be kidney shaped. I guess the old maharajah didn't have very good taste.

                Steve,
The "Defence" is to one of the 14th Sikhs (88 medals according to Joslin in BB&M). Garth
