I was over at a friends house today looking at some German (my field of collecting) bring backs, when he brought this Jump Smock/ uniform down from the attic. He got it from an 82nd trooper from WW2. He thinks it is British and from the color scheme, I would tend to agree. I was wondering if this might be a cover all jump suit from the SOE in WW2? It has zippers that go down both legs and even one in the center (in case you had to tap a bladder while waiting for the plane??) A nice pouch on the back that would be filled from the inside and all kinds of various other pouches for knife and pistol on the inside and outside. Zipper is marked made in England and the other markings as pictured. Can anyone confirm what the heck this is? Is this one that would be worn over the civilian clothes for the jump and then buried on landing???

A fine example of the British SOE One-Piece Jump Suit Kondor, also used by the American OSS and others. The label and stampings are interesting and uncommon. At the neck area it seems to be missing the leather sewn on strap to fasten the Jump Helmet, but it is possible it was manufactured that way. These Suits are now being reproduced, but not too well, and are easy to distinguish from an original, as your example. The other Suit posted is, as already mentioned, Tankers. Regards, Clive.
Your Image 5 shows the pockets for the two-piece Shovel-Spade that was used for burying the Suit and other unneeded equipment on landing. Not all Agents carried this as on many occasions they were met by Reception Committees and not dropped blind.Last edited by seebee1; 03-11-2012, 05:11 AM.
