Question of troops in Crete

I am working on a diorama of the battle of Crete and was wondering what color were the helmets used by the alied troops during the battle?

were the canteens the ones with green or brown felt?

At a guess I would say that British Commonwealth troops had sand colored helmets and brown canteens as they were moved hurriedly from Egypt to help with the defense.

I do know that Australians had a combination of sand painted helmets and the original olive/khaki painted helmets whilst fighting on Crete. I've been looking through photographs of troops who were evacuated to Alexandria and there was definitely a mixture. It also appears that many New Zealanders also had a mix of camo'd and untouched helmets.
Many of the Australian's on Crete were evacuated to there after the unsuccessful campaign in Greece only to then have to defend the island before being evacuated to Alexandria.
